Coaching

Twice a week the students at Langkaer have the possibility of getting help with their homework. The only thing you have to do is show up! The people who help are students studying the particular subject at the University of Aarhus. Their voluntary effort is organized by Red Cross and is complemented by the schools own teachers. The superior purpose of the coaching is to create a prosperous student environment and to try to equalize the students in matter of their education. A lot of students at school make use of this possibility and the common experience is that coaching has a positive effect and influence on the students.

Canteen
In the canteen the students at Langkaer have a lot of options. All day long the canteen offers a wide selection of different soft rolls, sandwiches, different kinds of drinks like soft drinks, milk, cocoa (both cold and hot), coffee and tea etc. At lunch the canteen also offers a special meal of the day (lasagna, spaghetti, some kind of meat with potatoes/rice etc.). This can be purchased in the lunch break around 12 o’clock, where there is also set up a buffet with different kinds of pasta, rice and potatoes. In short: the students at Langkaer can buy almost anything the heart desires and all of it at reasonable prices.
One of the things the owners of the cafeteria focus on is the quality of the food sold in the canteen. They get most of their products delivered from independent, ecological producers. E.g. they get their dairy products from the independent dairy “Grambogaard” - both for health- and economical reasons.
At special occasions such as birthdays both teachers and students have the possibility of ordering e.g. cake, if they want to hand out something sweet in class to celebrate.

There are a lot of activities going on in the canteen area. At lunch most students choose to spend their 25 min. break in this area simply because the atmosphere is pleasant and there is the chance to meet up with friends from other grades and classes.


Library
Langkaer also has its own library. The library is centrally placed right next to the computer area, where most students stay working on assignments that do not include a teacher. However, the opening times of the library are quite limited; Mondays and Wednesdays 12.00 pm-14.15 pm. The library has a selection of books that can be read/used in the gymnasium as well as at home.
The librarian at Langkaer Gymnasium offers an instructional course to the students in seeking literature both in the actual library and on the web.
